Something Blue; Great Personal, Super Easy, DIY Idea

I've featured a couple of great, easy 'something blue' ideas on the blog and this is another great, super easy {DIY} way to incorporate your 'something blue' into your wedding.

Have your bridesmaids {and anyone else you want} write 'wishes', 'good luck' for the future... {or anything} on the soles of your wedding shoes in blue ink.

Cute right?

Coloured Wedding Shoes

I just LOVE this trend. Coloured wedding shoes is definitely one of the BEST ways to introduce and inject colour into your wedding. The bigger, the bolder, the better in my mind! I love the way the colour pops from beneath a white, cream or ivory wedding dress... its almost naughtie!

Here are so great coloured wedding shoe ideas for you.

Does your Wedding Dress match your Wedding Shoes?

Who likes to coordinate? Who likes to match? Does your Wedding Dress match your Wedding Shoes?

What shoes will Kate wear on the day? My Top 5 Suggestions [for today].

OK, there is less than 2 weeks to go, so I'll be honest and tell you now that for [oh let me think] probably the next month, there will be ALOT of Royal Wedding posts! I apologize in advance to those of you who are doing an internal groan at this and high five those of you who are totally swooning at the possibilities!

We all know I'm obsessed with shoes... [hands up if you're with me?] so during my day dreaming this evening my thoughts turned to what type of shoes Kate will wear on her big day. No doubt designers are probably bending over backwards; designing the 'one off' 'Cathrerine', 'Kitty', 'Kate', or some such shoe, I took a far more lazy route tonight, [well I am just in from a 5km walk - that's long for me!], I typed in 'wedding shoes' to google and these [ at a quick glance] are what I think Kate should wear.

Quick reminder of what Diana wore on her wedding day:

Pretty, nice - befitting a Princess of the 'Eighties'. Not what I think a Princes of the 'Teenies' should wear. I think these could be potentials.

Now there will those of you who might think; there is a lot of bling in those there shoes Bláithín - will this not complete with all the bling Kate will be wearing in her tiara? My answer to this - can you ever have too much bling? Particularly on your wedding day? [Enough said I think].

Oh My; WHAT a pair of Wedding Shoes!

I want, I want, I want!

If ever there was a reason to customise your own wedding shoes, this is the reason. The wedding shoes, pictured below, where customised by their owner/creator/stunning bride with an extra cut out to emphasis the peep-toe effect and with bow and sparkle detailing; FAB-U-LOUS!!

And the fabulousness of this wedding did not end there... the bride, a dress designer, also designed her own wedding dress - which of course I also love!

12 tips to survive a wedding in the snow!

First off let me start by saying that snow on your wedding day is associated with fertility and wealth so if you are superstitious, relax its a good thing!

If you are both superstitious and practical here are 12 tips to help you survive a wedding in the snow.

1. Confirm all your suppliers are 'snow ready' and still able to travel.

2. Phone your local county council to double check the routes you will be travelling on your wedding day will be gritted. If they are country roads plead your case!

3. Make sure that all your important people are still able to make the wedding. [Maybe consider hiring a bus or mini bus to ensure they all have a way to get to and from the wedding.]

4. Don't get disappointed if some of your guests are unable to make it to your wedding due to the weather; it's not personal. If you know many wont, remember to change your final numbers with the venue and save yourself some money.

5. Ensure your church will be heated up sufficiently before the wedding ceremony.

6. Wear socks and runners travelling to and from the church, change into your wedding shoes [unless they are runners] as you arrive at the church and reception. If you want a couple of pictures outside wear your runners for these too. [No one will see if you dress is full length.] Even with wearing runners its a good idea to rough up the soles of your wedding shoes as well to give them better grip.

7. Make sure your [external] red carpet is all weather. If its not ask them to only use it inside. Red carpet can get wet quickly and is impossible to move, you don't want your dress ruined before you even walk down the aisle.

8. Ask your photographer, or bring yourself, an old white sheet, for outside photographs, particularly on grassy areas [if you are having them taken] stand on it, it will absorb the moisture before it gets to your dress. Appoint someone, not in the wedding party, to move it about.

9. Bring a warm coat that can be draped over your shoulders while you travel and between photos.

10. If you are travelling somewhere separate to your church or reception for photos bring a flask of hot tea to keep you all warm. [ps don't spill on your dress!]

11. Consider mulled wine or a hot punch for your drinks reception if you haven't already.

12. If you are serving canapés at your drinks reception, consider changing to soup... your guests will love you!

Most of all remember that is all part of your love story! Snow on your wedding day only adds to that... make the most of it and above all, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy it will be magical!

Cutest flat wedding shoes

I love heels, in fact I love them so much I once went hiking in heels. [ Yes its true, I did it mostly cause someone said I couldn't, but it illustrates the point.] You would be forgiven for thinking then that I would never consider or look at flats, given my close affinity to heels, that is until you see something like this!

Simply gorgeous; enough said I think.
