Friday's Wedding Photo fix

This just oozes sexy appeal, romance, intimacy and a hole host of other words I should use here but can't think of cause I am just blown away by how utter beautiful the bride, pose and picture are.

This gorgeous photo, taken by the talented Emily Heizer Photography with Flair just goes to show its worth while take those extra few minutes with your photographer every once in a while.

Friday's Wedding Photo Fix

OMG...

Could I start this post out any other way than with an OMG?

Many, many things contribute to how beautiful and eye catching this picture is, not least the keen eye and talents of the photographer of Sarah Scruggs Photography, but also the fabulous church door, beautiful bride and stunning dress and even the flowers!!

Definitely check out your locations and talk to your photographer about #winning { big shout out to Charlie Sheen ;) } shots like this!

Check out all the pics from this gorgeous wedding on Sarah's blog!

Friday's Wedding Photo Fix

This I think is just simply stunning!

I love the composition, the colours and the simplicity. Its also a great way of getting fantastic shots of your wedding rings and actually being able to see them!

Friday's Wedding Photo Fix

I think this is really cute! What do you think?

{Although am I the only person who thinks the female guests could have made a bigger effort? }

Friday's Wedding Photo Fix

I'm big on 'alternative' wedding shots right now. I just love the intimacy, sexiness and vulnerability of this shot, while all the while it remains, very much, a wedding day photo.

Any brides out there considering something a little different like this?

Friday's Wedding Photo Fix

Yes... this is a slightly new addition to the blog post line up... but I collect, pin and file all these great wedding photos and I never know quite how or when I'm going to show you them so here it is, Friday's Wedding Photo Fix!

First up is this real cutie! The { not so } secret kiss!

Jenna & Drew's First Look Photo's Before the Wedding Ceremony

Are you having a 'first look' with your hubby {to be} before the ceremony?

I'm torn between the belief 'its bad luck to see the bride before the ceremony' and the absolutely priceless and intimate moment of that 'first look', captured here, so beautifully by Casie of The NEW Casie {kay-cee; KC} Photographics with her bride and groom, Jenna & Drew.

I love the way Jenna 'sneaks' up on Drew and the utter love and devotion in his eyes when he sees her for the first time!

Who would like to know a little more about the gorgeous Jenna & Drew? Well they were so kind to answer a couple of questions about themselves and their wedding plans.

1.  How did you and your husband meet?
 We met while working at a retail store when we were starting out in college.  Drew decided he wanted to go into the Coast Guard and I stayed in school.  3 years later we met up with each other and the rest is history.

2.  How did you decide on a theme/the colors, etc. for your wedding?
It was very easy, we both wanted a fresh clean spring look.  We looked through a couple of wedding mags and saw a picture with blues and yellows and both liked it.  That picture kept us focused on the whole look that we were going for.
3.  What made you decide to go with The First Look?
We didn't want our guests to have to wait between the ceremony and reception.  Plus we wanted to have fun pictures with our wedding party without feeling like we were rushed for time.  It also allowed us to give eachother our gifts without having to have a messenger (Maid of Honor/Best Man) to give the gift to the other.
4.  Would you recommend The First Look to other brides?  Why/Why Not?
We would definitely recommend the first look to everyone! It allows you to just take a breather and just be with your significate other without anyone else (except your photographer--which you dont even realize is there).  It is a great moment for just you and your partner to just relax.  We were able to goof around once the first look and the first moment together that day was over.  It brought a calmness to the rest of the event.  Walking down the aisle wasn't hard and I was able to really enjoy my man at the other end of the aisle and everyone around us as well.
5.  What was the most memorable part of your Wedding Day and why?
The time between the ceremony and the reception.  Our event took place in a hall full of windows were you could see out to the cocktail hour but our guest couldnt see us.  We were able to just be silly with out immediate family and our wedding party and then get the party started.  Our whole event went exactly as we wanted...all of our loved ones were there laughing and having fun.  The food was great, our DJ was awesome and our photos came out  wonderfully! By the time the day was actually here the decorations and the cake and all the little details didn't seem to matter at much, all we cared about was that everyone had fun and it was a fantastic party!

And here's a quick look at some of the details for Jenna & Drew's special day!!

Big, big, big thank you to Casie and of course Jenna & Drew for allowing me to share this gorgeous wedding and amazing first look photos with you all.

A Prefect Pre-Wedding Picture

We all know that it is bad look for the bride and groom to see each other before the wedding. I am a bit of a superstitious gal and while I know some of you might be planning on having some pictures taken before your ceremony, to save on time and get the best light, its not something I would personally be able to do. But this... well this I could {and wish I had}.

This is just an absolutely beautiful moment to capture before you say I do... { an absolute must for your wedding photo list! }

ShotClip: Unique Wedding Gift Idea!

As a guest it can be difficult to find that prefect gift, something that is heartfelt, useful, unique and {right now} affordable, while not looking cheap. Its especially more difficult now as many couples live together before their weddings and so have all the 'traditional' wedding gifts got.

Today I just might have the answers to all your prayers! Today I want to introduce you all to ShotClip.com.

What is ShotClip?

Have you ever dreamt of being the cameraman of your own movie? Have you ever wanted to put those {buried} creative film talents to use?  Are you one to always have the video camera out, or your phone poised and ready to catch a good shot? Do you have loads and loads of footage of family weddings and are you wondering what to do with them? Then ShotClip is for you!!

I think the best way to describe ShotClip is to use the words of its Owner & Creator, Conor Mc Nally, ShotClip is like the video version of disposable cameras... {but in my opinion better... much better.}

I'll explain more...

Ideally you would 'sign up' to ShotClip before the the wedding, watch the tutorials on how best to 'shoot' your wedding scenes, learn how long they should be, to print the {very} handy 'shotlist' {so you don't forget anything on the day} and have a little play around with the {easy peasy} editing software, but signing up after the wedding {if you've already been and are reading this thinking, that is perfect for me!} is fine too!

While at the wedding you 'shoot' the scenes as they happen. {Remembering that you are just capturing the moment, not directing it... no standing out in the church telling people to move and the bride when to stop and start - you are a guest remember :) not Steven Spielberg {yet}}  After the wedding then you upload your footage to ShotClip, edit and can then share with all your friends {and of course the Bride and Groom} through facebook and email.{It really is that simple!}

What I absolutely LOVE about ShotClip is that multiple people can sign up, use the one account, and share their footage with each other, which, provided this is all done in the one account, you can use too and each of you can create a unique video of the wedding day using all the footage on the account.

The gift is perfect for those who have and who have not chosen a videographer for their wedding.

Why? Well if a couple have videographer for the day, you can focus on all those 'behind the scenes' shots that he will miss, as his focus will be the bride and groom. If they have chosen to not to have a videographer then you { and other guests } can 'shoot' and compile treasured moments for them that they will have for the rest of their lives.

How great is the price!

I bet you are thinking this is all sounding mighty impressive... I know I was impressed too AND I haven't even gotten to the best bit yet... the price... 1 user accounts start from just $24.95 and go up to 8 user accounts for just $59.95... an absolute bargain if you ask me!

The great ShotClip give-away!

Involve your guests in your wedding!

Yes a wedding day is mostly about a bride and groom, but what about involving your wedding guests a little more than beyond being in the wedding party, ushers or reading scripture or prayers?

With these 3 great ideas you can kill two birds with one stone { I apologize for the bad turn of phrase there :)} and involve your guests more in the wedding, have cute and interesting talking points and have unique and fun decoration at your wedding too!

Hang photos of your wedding guests above the tables they are being seated at. Pictured here using part of a ladder and some cat gut. { You could of course paint the ladder in your theme colours and even decorate with flowers too! }

Stick guest photos into mason jars {aka jam jars}and use as centrepieces. Add some water and yellow food colouring {or any colour food colouring} for fun interesting effects. { Make sure the photos aren't originals if you are doing this }.

At your drinks reception hang wedding pictures of all your attending married guests { don't forget to date and name them too!}

How to Plan for Engagement Photos

By Guest Blogger and Bride Sarah Beckman

My  mom and I love to compare my parents’ 1981 wedding to my upcoming 2011  wedding. My mom wore a dress handmade by my grandma, whereas I tried on  hundreds of dresses at a bridal boutique. My parents’ reception was cake  and punch in the church basement. Mine is going to include cocktail  hour, a seated dinner, and dancing under an outdoor reception tent.

The  differences don’t stop there! When my mom got engaged, engagement  photos were simple head shots used to announce the engagement in the  local paper. Nowadays, engagement pictures are elaborate photo shoots,  complete with multiple locations, wardrobe changes, and props.

My  fiance, Chris, and I had a great time getting our engagement photos  taken, but we found that preparing for them was a little stressful. We  found that it’s all in thinking about the details and making decisions  in advance.

engagement photos

Location

Long  gone are the days of boring photos in front of plain backdrops.  Consider taking your engagement photos at a place that’s special to the  two of you. Is there a park you love to frequent? Or was your first date  at a noteworthy spot? My fiance and I had two locations for our  engagement photos. First we went to a quaint, historic downtown area and  then to a beautiful park. Neither spot was special to us as a couple,  but we knew we wanted outdoor photos.

Outfits

Between  you and me, I am the more fashion-conscious one in the relationship, so  I picked out my outfits first. We decided to do one dressy look, as  well as one casual look. Before I started shopping for engagement photo outfits, we decided we want to wear timeless outfits that aren't too trendy and that reflect our personal style. For the dressy look, I wore an emerald-green  dress. Chris wore grey dress pants and a black polo. For the casual  look, I wore a white, collared, sleeveless top and Chris wore a light  blue button-down; we both wore jeans. Our outfits reflected clothes that  we’d both normally wear -- your engagement photos aren’t the day to try  out a new style! Also remember when it comes to pictures, solids photograph better than patterns.

Makeup

Like  with outfits, the day of your engagement photos isn’t the time to try a  new makeup style. I usually keep it natural when it comes to makeup, and  my engagement photo makeup reflects that. When you're getting pictures taken, it's okay to wear a little more makeup than you usually would, though. Use a matte concealer, foundation and translucent setting powder to give yourself flawless skin, and eyeliner and mascara will make your eyes stand out. Also, here's a makeup tip I once got from a makeup artist: if you're getting photos taken, don't wear shimmery or reflective makeup -- the flash will reflect off your makeup and cause whiteness on your face! I couldn't get any makeup on Chris' face -- but my guess is some guys wear a little powder to get rid of shininess!

Props

I love engagement photo props! I think they're a great way to make your photos fun, unique, and personalized! Some great ideas I've seen are setting up a picnic in a park, toasting with champagne, or using personalized signs. Chris and I had a white milk glass-framed chalk board that we wrote our names on. We also had a small pennant banner that has his last name (my future last name!) stitched in it. I bought both from Etsy. We plan to also incorporate these props into the wedding!

It was so fun getting the disc of all our engagement photos, looking through them, and deciding which ones to print. I'm still trying to think of a clever way to incorporate some of the photos into our wedding reception -- please leave your suggestions in the comments!
