Need I say more? What an utterly fabulous wedding cake... made by the {super talented} Cake Girls

Monday's Wedding Cake Fix

Just in time for morning tea today is Monday's Wedding Cake Fix.

This cake is truly gorgeous. I love the colours. I love the macaroon detailing. I love the painted flowers. I love everything.

What do you think?

Alternative Wedding Cakes!

Hi guys! I'm back!

Did you miss me? Well I hope not, I scheduled enough posts to keep you all going while I was away! We had such a lovely time on holidays and as brief as the two weeks was I feel like I've not been away at all! :)

I have to admit I was bold on holidays, I ate ALOT of wheat... and by extension ALOT of cake... my body and belly are reeling from the effects and I sometimes wonder why I did it at all! :) It was good though... really good!!

So today I thought I would bring you a cake fix with a difference. With the emergence of candy bars and dessert buffets at weddings many of my wedding planning clients are shying away from the traditional looking cake in favour of something wacky and alternative! With this in mind here are some cool and different wedding cake ideas full of colour combinations and even some wacky cake pop/ candy/ cake combos!

Green Wedding Cake!

Ok, maybe this isn't supposed to be a wedding cake... but hell what a wedding cake it would make! I love that it is so different, so unexpected! And while I am slightly scared at the {very} asparagus looking tops on this cake, it looks absolutely delicious!

Cup Cake Tree for your Wedding

If a big wedding cake is not your thing, if you've seen one too many dessert buffets and if you consider the chocolate fountain an {ancient} thing of the past, but still want to delight your guests with a wow {Sweet} Centrepiece, either at your drinks reception or for the dessert have you considered a Cup Cake Tree?

You haven't? Well you must! Its got colour, its got presences and its an utter statement piece!

I will let you judge for yourself!

Angry Birds Wedding Cake

When my hubby saw this he said; 'Why hadn't you the foresight to think of this and for us to have it at our wedding.'

{Considering we got married 4 years before the game even existed you can imagine the look I gave him :) }

All the same its a pretty cool cake!

Tuesday's Wedding Cake Fix

Today { as with most days :) } I don't know how anyone would eat this wedding cake? Seriously, its far too delicate and precious to be eaten.

Don't you think?

Monday's Wedding Cake Fix: Bare Cake!

Lately I've featured alot of elegant cakes... my friend calls them the 'perfect' wedding cakes... but remember we're not about perfect wedding days here, we're all about fabulous weddings here.

By no manner or means does this wedding cake look perfect but it sure does look fabulous!

I love the unfrosted look, fruit and flowers! What do you think?

Wedding Cake Fix: 3 Stuning Wedding Cakes for Tuesday!

I know I normally just pick one wedding cake and show you something stunning in the week... but will I couldn't just choose this week so you are get three for the price of one!

Each wedding cake is utterly decadent, simply stunning and utterly gorgeous; don't you agree?

Dress inspired Wedding Cakes!

Who likes a good wedding theme? Who likes to take a wedding theme to extreme?

Would you take your wedding theme so far as to match your wedding dress, or your bridesmaids dresses to your wedding cake? If they looked like this I think I might!! Would you?

{ Total side note, I know, but I remember when I was little, probably 4 to 10 {ish} I had lush long brown hair, it was my crowning glory. I was very proud of it. I also had about a gazillion 'scrunchies' - do you remember them, those fabric {large} hair bobbins? Anyways, I had one to match every outfit. Well this, and I'm not entirely sure how, reminds me of those scrunchies. }

I couldn't eat this wedding cake, could you?

This I think is truly gorgeous! The talent, skill and hours of work that went it to this painted wedding cake...

Who could eat it? Its a masterpiece!

Harry Potter Wedding Inspiration

{Standing up, she says;} I am Bláithín and I am a Harry Potter nut!

There I said it, it wasn't too bad. It's out in the open, some of you will applaud, others are possibly shaking their heads. Regardless, it doesn't change the fact, that I, LOVE Harry Potter.

Tonight, fingers crossed, I will be going to see the latest, and last, movie {sob, sob}. Am a little sad, but I've had over 10 years to prepare for this night.

In the movie's {finale} honour I've decided to do a little Harry Potter Wedding Inspiration on the blog today.

I had to do a close up of the Sorting Hat and Wand Escort Cards.... how insanely cool and clever is that?

I can't even handle this Hogwarts Wedding Cake! Wozzers!

Tuesday's Wedding Cake Fix

This wedding cake is simply stunning!

Perfect for black & white themed weddings, movie themed weddings, sophisticated chic weddings.... really most weddings! :)

Don't you think?

Monaco's Royal Wedding

I have to say I did not follow this Royal Wedding with as much gusto as William and Kate's... I suppose in some ways it seems less romantic, less fairytale.

While there is only about 4 years between the two brides, the {new} Princess Charlene being the senior at 33, her groom {Prince Albert} is 53, {20 years her senior again} and that just seems slightly... well you know... less like Prince Charming and Cinderella.

Add to that the numerous rumours that the {now} Princess Charlene tried to 'flee' the wedding on THREE separate occasions in the weeks leading up to it, she even {reportedly} had her passport confiscated and the most recent rumour that Prince Albert has fathered a number of children, the most recent, believed to be an 18 month by an Italian woman and well it all seems less hopeful and {well} less Wills & Kate.

While I wish them well, especially Charlene, because really she did not look happy, not at all on the day, I don't think I will be surprised, if after the obligatory Heir is produced, we might begin to see cracks form in this marriage.

But on to happier things, as I know you are all much more interested in details and pictures of wedding dresses and fashion!

Following the French tradition, Monaco's weddings take place in two parts. The first is the civil ceremony which takes places on a smaller, more intimate scale, a day or two in advance of the religious ceremony.

To this Charlene wore Chanel ankle length palzzo pants with lace trim and a blue blazer, apparently designed by her. I think the colour was a bold choice, blue, considering her state of mind! I also think the pants were just a tad too long, and while I appreciate that there are probably protocols when it comes to what a {future} Princess should wear to her civil ceremony, I think the whole look was unimaginative, unflattering and not 'bridal' in the slightest. In fact it was more mother of the bride than bride!

What do you think?

To her wedding ceremony, the {now} Princess Charlene wore and off the shoulder Armani Prive Gown. The Wedding Dress reportedly took 2,500 hours to makes and consists of 140 yards of silk, 40,000 Swarovski Crystals and 20,00 Mother of Pearl Beads and it appears the 6 yard long train caused a little bit of bother getting stuck occasionally throughout the day.

The couples religious ceremony took place in the open air courtyard of the Palace in front of 800 invited guests and 3,500 subjects.

{ Our own President, Mary McAleese, was even in attendance!}

To her reception Princess Charlene wore a sleeveless white Armani gown with tiered ruffles { in which she looked stunning!}

The Traditional Wedding Cake, that is not!

It's Monday, and after the birthday weekend I've just had of course my mind is on cake! Today's inspiring wedding cake is gorgeous, traditional { in a sense } and totally fabulous!

I am AMAZED by the colour combination and how rich and succulent and texturised { is that a word?} the wedding cake is.

Simply stunning!

What do you think? Aren't the roses and ruffles just fab?!

Monday's Wedding Cake Fix: Alice in Wonderland

How awesome is this?

Ok technically its probably not a 'wedding cake' - but what an amazing fabulous wedding cake it would make!

Prefect for a tea party themed wedding, a couple with a big 'kid' heart or a couple who just want to wow their guests!

With butterflies!

Yes I am obsessed with cake, I though that would be obvious... but my regular readers with know that the obsession takes over even more so when coupled with butterflies!

How gorgeous is this?

For thoes who don't like Cake

I honestly can't believe these people exist.

Thankfully I've never met any, although ... that could work out in my favour, cause then I could have their cake... interesting.

But for those of you who are looking for alternative wedding cakes... that aren't actual cake but still give you the focal point, here are some great ideas!

An actual Fruit Cake

Real Cheese Cake

Cupcake Centrepiece for your Wedding

My heart skipped a beat when I came across this just now. For many, many reasons; it includes cupcakes, flowers and pink [many of my favourite things] but mostly because it is such an utterly unique way of combining your centrepiece with your favour and possibly your dessert course - while looking amazing... what more do you want?

Wedding Cake: too good to eat!

Simple Stunning!

How on earth could you cut it?
