A Wedding Tatoo, would you?

I've had brides desperately try to hide tatoos they had done in their youth, they've chosen to wear dresses they didn't really want because their aim to cover the 'dreaded thing' { their words, not mine}, came first over their desire for a nice dress. I've had brides make bridemaids wear longer dresses or cardigans or whatever so they didn't show up in photos. But would you actively go out and get a wedding tatoo?

The use of Henna in Indian Weddings is a big and long standing tradition. Its beautiful and intricate and often tells a story. { Of course this type of 'tatooing' isn't what springs to mind when I say would you get a wedding tatoo... but look at this... }

This is what I am talking about when I say would you have a wedding tatoo...

I think this is beautifully stunning and it is definitely something I would consider on my wedding day. Would you?

Budget Perfect Centerpieces

I love simple, effective and pretty things. Make it budget friendly and I love it even more. This idea is all that and more. I've often used it at dinner parties in the house and its creates a lovely vocal point and atmosphere.

If you are looking for a cost effect way to dress up your reception tables, and don't want to go with the venues bog standard ones, this is the idea for you.

{Perfect for trestle or rectangular tables!}

Tasteful Fourth of July Wedding Ideas

I couldn't let the US holiday pass by and not mention or 'give it a nod' on the blog. I also wanted to give those of you considering a fourth of July theme for your wedding { next year; today is probably a bit late :) } some tasteful ideas...

First off, ladies if you are thinking of the fourth of July as a wedding theme, the one thing I implore you not to do {because it is the ultimate in 'tact city'} is DO NOT, under ANY circumstance get or have {or even think about} an American flag as a wedding dress! I detest it so much I wont even put one on the blog to show you how truly terrible they are!

{ I do want to clarify: I have absolutely nothing against the flag, its a very nice flag, but it should never be, under any circumstance, a wedding dress!}

Now that, that is sorted let is feast our eyes on some great {tasteful} inspiration for a fourth of July wedding!

Involve your guests in your wedding!

Yes a wedding day is mostly about a bride and groom, but what about involving your wedding guests a little more than beyond being in the wedding party, ushers or reading scripture or prayers?

With these 3 great ideas you can kill two birds with one stone { I apologize for the bad turn of phrase there :)} and involve your guests more in the wedding, have cute and interesting talking points and have unique and fun decoration at your wedding too!

Hang photos of your wedding guests above the tables they are being seated at. Pictured here using part of a ladder and some cat gut. { You could of course paint the ladder in your theme colours and even decorate with flowers too! }

Stick guest photos into mason jars {aka jam jars}and use as centrepieces. Add some water and yellow food colouring {or any colour food colouring} for fun interesting effects. { Make sure the photos aren't originals if you are doing this }.

At your drinks reception hang wedding pictures of all your attending married guests { don't forget to date and name them too!}

Wedding Favours That Put the Fun in Funky!

By Guest Blogger Susan Hawkins

Weddings receptions are happy occasions (if not, you’re doing it wrong), but, to be honest, they’re not always fun for all. Not everyone gets up to dance, or drinks to catch a little “bridal” buzz. That’s why I want to turn you on to a few funky wedding favours that just might put a smile on the faces of folks who find the festivities a bit flat.

Guests won’t expect to find these favours at ultra-formal, elegant affairs, and you won’t have much control on how guests choose to use a couple of them. They’re somewhat unpredictable, and that’s part of the fun! Here we go!

Slot Machine Gumball Dispenser

The slot machine arm works and the reels, featuring engagement rings, hearts, bouquets and other wedding icons, spin. No coins are required to get a gumball. You’ll be able to spot family and friends with a gambling problem easily. They may look like they’re talking, but they’re chewing so much gum, they can’t.

Bubbles

In the U.S., the conventional purpose for wedding bubbles (which come in a variety of charming containers complete with bubble wand) is for guests to blow bubbles instead of throwing rice (bad for birds!) when the bride and groom make their honeymoon getaway. Some guests who are 1) old and in their second childhood, 2) childish adults and 3) actual children will find them irresistible long before you leave the party. Look on the bright side—at least they’re not popping the cork on another bottle of expensive bubbly.

Playing Cards

Along with the first two favours, playing cards can usually be personalised—an added bonus! However, don’t be surprised if Uncle Sean passes the time at your wedding by getting a little poker game going in the back of the room. If the Gardai arrive, tell them it’s a fundraiser for your honeymoon

Wedding Poppers

Confetti that catapults out of a can! Look for poppers with confetti that’s biodegradable and, consequently, earth-friendly! Like bubbles, wedding poppers were designed to provide a rice-free send-off for the newlyweds. On the downside, each wedding popper is good for only one blast. On the upside, if you have kids at your wedding, and they start a wedding-popper war, it will be over sooner than Brittney Spears’s first marriage.

“Bride and Groom” Toilet Paper

I saved this for the end. You can use it at the engagement party, bridal showers and the reception. Guests will get a chuckle where there’s rarely one to be found. Try not to think about it once you’ve installed it in the holder. Just go forth and have the time of your life!

[ ps I don't know about you guys but I am head over heels in love with this Bride and Groom Toilet Paper - who is with me on this? Is this not the cutest, funest think you've come across?]

Suit you Sir; Cufflink Gifts for the Groomsmen

Grooms are great! As are their Groomsmen... but we'll all agree that while the devil is in the detail for us women when it comes to weddings, sometimes [just sometimes :) ], men's heads are focused... well elsewhere.

I've had Grooms and Groomsmen turn up in white and brown socks with their lovely black or grey suits/tuxes [ a big no, no]. I combat this by always having a couple of pairs of decent black men's socks in my bag of tricks.

Despite reminders the male contingent of a wedding party can still forget that its black shoes all around - so yes, I have been known to carry a pair or two of black men's shoes in my car. [But I find photo shopping works best here] - not everyone is a size 9 after all :)

And while I can tackle unruly hair with a comb and some gel and snip a few curly eyebrows with a nail scissors, the one area I can't [afford] or keep track of are cufflinks! This is why I always suggest that a great gift to give Grooms and Groomsmen the morning of the wedding [so there is no time to loose or forget them] are a set of cufflinks and when Paul Coyne of Nine Design stopped by the blog earlier in the week to say hello, I just had to feature some of his gorgeous work!

Paul is Irish [aren't all the best designers? ] and he creates some gorgeous handmade, unique modern contemporary jewellery. Don't take my word for it, see for yourself!

Gorgeous right?! Not only does the talented Paul make cufflinks but he also makes Pendants, Earrings and Golf Ball Markers too - gifts for the entire Wedding Party 'under one roof' - the convenience of it!

To check out the full range of cufflinks designed and handmade by Paul at Nine Design [a total steal starting from just €26.77] and all the other gorgeous jewellery stop by The Nine Design Etsy Shop

Paul is an extremely busy Irish Designer and things at Nine Design are going from strength to strength. To keep up with Paul's wonderful life as a Jewellery Designer filled with launch parties, trips to international craft fairs and all the exciting new projects he has coming up you have to follow his blog

I'm especially excited to hear and [most importantly] see more of his new project: Bog Oak and Sterling Silver Jewellery! Perhaps he might even stop by again and share some of his new designs with us!

Oh My; WHAT a pair of Wedding Shoes!

I want, I want, I want!

If ever there was a reason to customise your own wedding shoes, this is the reason. The wedding shoes, pictured below, where customised by their owner/creator/stunning bride with an extra cut out to emphasis the peep-toe effect and with bow and sparkle detailing; FAB-U-LOUS!!

And the fabulousness of this wedding did not end there... the bride, a dress designer, also designed her own wedding dress - which of course I also love!

Inside the 75 Handbags of a Wedding Planner

This weekend I set myself the task of photographing all my handbags. I had good reason; my closet space is tight and when I'm looking for something nice to dress up an outfit I always find myself amidst a major handbag mess and then for days afterwards they are strewn all over the bedroom. So in the interest of cleanliness [and slight peace of mind] I decided that if I catalogued all the handbags I have it would be easier to view them in a picture folder on my desktop then searching through the various nooks and crannys I have them housed in around the bedroom.

My little project taught me a couple of things:

1. I have ALOT of handbags, 75 in total.
2. I now know where all my pens are.
3. I carry the oddest things at times.
4. I need to clear out more often!

So you may not care or even want to know what I found in my handbags but here you go:

18 Pens
1 Ball of Twine
2 Measuring Tapes
73 Bobby Bins
2 Note Pads
4 Tubes of Lipsticks
3 Lip Glosses
97c [ mostly made up of 1c & 2c]
16 Safety Pins
2 Garters
2 Mascaras
1 Tube of Hand Cream
1 Comb
3 Bottles of Nail Varnish [ Jungle Nude, Cherry Jubilee and Clear]
1 Boxes of Straight Pins
3 Nail Files
1 Roll of Floristry Tape
2 Rolls of Masking Tape
6 Pearlised Pins
1 Bottle of Water
1 Bottle of Coke
7 Packets of Tissues
2 Jars of Vicks
Half a Pack of Strepsals
1 Baby's Rattle
23 Old Receipts
Too many to count tissues
1 Spoon
4 Mass Booklets
1 Lollipop
7 Earrings [ 3 sets and a loner :( ]
1 Bottle of Handsanitzer
1 Roll of Cream Ribbon
3 Buttons
1 Watch
1 Camera Battery
2 Packets of Gum
1 Bottle Opener
4 Bottles of Perfume [2 Bottles of Romance, a Bottle of Pink and a Bottle of Hypnosis]
1 Lighter
2 Tubes of Nail Glue
3 Unity Candles
1 Packet of Gel Soles
19 Artificial Red Rose Petals

Even I was surprised at some of the items... considering I do have an actual Wedding Pack Bag that carries all the 'emergency' type wedding paraphernalia I bring with me.

So what's the funniest/ weirdest/ most unusual thing you've ever found in your handbag?
