THE TOP FOUR CREATIVE WAYS TO ASK A FRIEND TO BE YOUR BRIDESMAID OR MAID OF HONOR

Guest Post by Allie Brown

A weddingjust wouldn’t be complete without the love and support of your friends. Askingsomeone to be your bridesmaid is a pivotal moment of friendship: it means thetwo of you share a special connection that comes straight from the heart.Popping the question in a unique, imaginative way guarantees a memory for youand your bridesmaid (or any wedding attendant) that will be cherished forever.

Here are thetop four most creative ways to ask a friend to be your bridesmaid, maid ofhonor, matron of honor, bridesman, man of honor, or wedding attendant.

  1. For crafty types, personalized, individual calendars are easy to make - many printable templates are available on the Internet, and the pages can be bound together at a copy shop at very little cost. For each bridesmaid, use pictures of the two of you together, recalling memorable moments. If you like, include scrapbook embellishments. Use your imagination. Be sure to circle the date of your wedding, as well as any other important dates. Don’t forget to add a note asking the all important question. As an extra touch, include pages at the back that contain a photo of each bridesmaid, her name, and anything else you’d like the others to know about her. It’s a great way to introduce your bridesmaids to each other!

  1. Make a “bridesmaid survival kit” for your friends. Purchase plastic or cardboard boxes (which you can decorate if desired), or pouches. Fill each with a measuring tape, small notebook and pen, fold-able hairbrush, emery boards, compact mirror, breath freshener, earring backs, bobby pins, nail polish remover, clear nail polish, double sided tape, tissues, sewing kit, bandages, and pain reliever. Include a note saying, “I couldn’t survive the wedding without you - please be my bridesmaid.”

  1. If you’re a technology whiz, put together a photo slide-show for each bridesmaid that can be burned on DVDs and sent by mail. In each slide-show, include photos of the two of you, along with notes about those special moments you shared. At the end, use a picture of yourself in a wedding dress, and a note asking them to be your bridesmaid. For a humorous touch, find a picture of the ugliest bridesmaid dress you can, and include that in the slide-show with a note: “I won’t make you wear this, I promise!”

  1. Greeting cards are not only a great way to invite guests to your wedding, there are many special bridesmaid cards, maid of honor cards, and other wedding attendant invitations available in one-of-a-kind designs and colours to suit every bride and every wedding’s colour scheme. Inside the card, write a poem or recall a particular memory, and tell your friend why it would mean so much to you if they joined your wedding party. Be mushy. Be sincere. Be clever. But above all, write from your heart and you can’t go wrong.
